Lakes Region Barefoot Massage

Welcome to Lakes Region Barefoot Massage!  We are located in Franklin, NH, with its beautiful lakes and mountains.  We specialize in Ashiatsu Deepfeet Bar Therapy Barefoot massage, also known as “The deepest, most luxurious massage on the planet!”

Ashiatsu Deepfeet Barefoot  Massage

What is Ashiatsu?

In the Japanese language “Ashi” means foot and “Atsu” means pressure.

This technique is performed with bare feet using the therapist’s body weight, and using long gliding gentle strokes with compression. Massage lotion/oil is used so the strokes glide smoothly over the skin. The practitioner uses overhead bars for support & balance. Comfort is of the utmost importance to the client. The pressure of your massage can be as deep or as light as you would like. Gravity allows the Ashiatsu therapist to deliver up to 3x deeper pressure than regular hands-on massage.

Have you ever felt like you didn’t get enough pressure with a hands-on massage, even if it was a deep tissue massage? Then Ashiatsu is the perfect choice for you! Those who appreciate the benefits of deep pressure, particularly well-suited for larger, muscular individuals and athletes, and at the same time, smaller frames, where only one foot is used to apply pressure. Ashiatsu can be a light, medium, or deep pressure, Swedish massage, or a hurts-so-good sports massage.

Most clients ask “are you using your feet yet?” They are very surprised when I reply “I have been using them for the last 5 minutes!” Click the play button below to watch a short video on Ashiatsu Bar Therapy Massage!

THE Barefoot massage technique is used for the back, legs, feet, arms, neck, and shoulders.

Benefits of Ashiatsu:

Helps flush the body’s lymphatic system, which releases metabolic waste. Reduces or eliminates chronic muscle pain and improves bodily functions. Creates a higher sense of balance & well-being within the body. And feels AMAZING!

  • Deep relaxation for the client
  • Muscle spasm relief
  • Lower back pain
  • Sciatic pain
  • Chronic pain
  • Improves posture & range of motion
  • Elongates muscles and spine

NOTE: Please review before requesting an appointment.

Ashiatsu Deepfeet Barefoot Massage is considered a deep compressive form of bodywork. Blood and Lymph are increased at a very high rate, and tissue is compressed with deep movements. This technique is not suitable for a wide variety of health conditions. Lakes Region Barefoot Massage operates in accordance with state laws and ethical practices. All clients will be draped using a sheet and blanket or large beach towel.  Inappropriate behaviors or sexual harassment will not be tolerated and will result in being banned from receiving services and reported to authorities.

We understand that life happens and can result in occasional unanticipated events. In our desire to be effective and fair to all clients, the following policies are honored:

24 hour advance notice is required (48 hours appreciated) when canceling an appointment. This allows the opportunity for someone else to schedule a massage. If you are unable to give 24 hours advance notice you will be charged the full amount of your appointment. This amount must be paid prior to your next appointment.

If you arrive late, your session may be shortened in order to accommodate other clients whose appointments follow yours. Depending upon how late you arrive, your therapist will then determine if there is enough time remaining to start a treatment. Regardless of the length of the treatment actually given, you will be responsible for the “full” session. Out of respect and consideration to your therapist and other clients, please plan accordingly and be on time.

At your appointment

Your appointment is in a comfortable, safe, professional & relaxing environment for your therapeutic massage session.

When you arrive, I will have you fill out a short health intake form and talk with you about your areas of concern. I will explain to you the analog scale from 1-10, and as we go along, I will ask you to tell me what number is most comfortable for you on whatever area we are working on at the moment. The massage room and table will be warmed for your comfort. I will start off with light pressure and add more when the tissue is warmed up and if you would like more. Certain parts of the body only require light pressure. I have worked on 8-year-olds and 89-year-olds! One 89-year-old woman commented, “I think I died and went to heaven!”

I will step out of the massage room while you disrobe to your comfort level and then return when you are on the table under a sheet and blanket or large beach towel.

You will be fully draped and only the areas being massaged will be uncovered. Some people prefer to keep their underwear on and that’s ok. Remember I will be using lotion/oil and may get some on your clothing. Your modesty, comfort, and pressure preference is top priority.

You will start the massage face down, unless you prefer to start face up. My tools for massaging…my feet…will be clean, warm and soft. I will do that right in the room just before your massage. The cream I use is called AshiButter Original. The ingredients are: Shea Butter, Olive Oil, Jojoba Oil, Vitamins A & E, Safflower Oil, and Sunflower Oil. Made in the USA, 100% natural, cruelty-free, and vegan. I will play relaxing music during the massage unless you would prefer none. After the massage, you may rest a little on the table until you are ready to rise. A glass of filtered water will be ready for you.

My wife and I started getting massages from Karen when we looked for a massage therapist in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire a couple years ago. If you have never had a massage done with a therapist’s feet, you really need to contact Karen. Using her feet, she is able to control the pressure put on each part of my body. She has been able to concentrate on my lower back like no one else has been able to do for me. I will see Karen whenever needed for the rest of my life.
